A function to commemorate the late writer Deirdre Purcell was held on 14th March in Castletownbere Library. It was attended by Deirdre‘s husband Kevin, her son Adrian and her brother Declan and his wife Mary all of whom contributed to the event sharing some of Deirdre’s writing. Artist Tim Goulding and actor Dermot Crowley, who starred in the TV series "Falling For A Dancer", also contributed. Deirdre was a great supporter of libraries throughout her life, including Castletownbere Library. She was also a great friend to many in Beara, several of whom attended the event, and it was wonderful to acknowledge this in the library just over a year after her sudden death.
