Castletownbere, Darkness Into Light 2022 a beautiful morning in Beara, West Cork
A beautiful morning in Castletownbere for Darkness Into Light. Here are a small few photographs from the morning to mark the occasion.
A huge thank you to all those who turned up to enjoy the walk. It was great to see so many people of all ages from all over Beara take part in a very special morning!
It was a beautiful dry morning in Castletownbere as the walkers and runners gathered outside the Beara Coast Hotel.
After Anne Marie Cronin welcomed the walkers, the Darkness Into Light manifesto was read by Collette Murphy, Niamh O Shea, Sinead Whelan, Kayleigh & Carmel Lehane.
The walkers started the walk at 4.15am
The new route went down well and the silent kilometre which was lit by candles was again the highlight of the walk. While the runners were back long before the daylight. The walkers enjoyed seeing the sun starting to glow as they walked the route.
Thanks to the volunteers who helped, thanks to the committee members, of Trish O Shea, Colette Murphy, Niamh O Shea, Sinead Whelan, Gerard O Donoghue. A huge thanks to Sean, & Jennifer Cronin, Dominic Tietjen, Colin Harrington, Caoimhe Whelan, who helped line the route with lights.
Our stewards Sean, Jennifer, Dominic, Sinead, Colette, Niamh, Martin O Shea, Anthony Regan , and Martin Hanley. Our paramedic Gerard O Donoghue, and Kieran O Sullivan who drove the Friebrigade.
Thanks to Ivalo for setting up the sound system at short notice and to Donal Kelly for giving us power and Harrington's Home Value for the truck for the stage
A great morning was had by all and it was lovely to be part of a fantastic fundraiser. A crowd hung around for the sun to appear while it was a beautiful morning the sun blocked by fog until later in the morning but with the beautiful venue people waited around chatting.
Only a few pictures, sorry guys, as its been a busy week!
Many thanks again to my fellow committee members and those who supported Castletownbere Darkness Into Light 2022, Anne Marie xx
