Beara Tourism organised get-together for those working from home in Beara, West Cork

With the increasing number of people now able to work from home, Beara Tourism held a get-together today at Berehaven Lodge. The meeting was to assess if Beara needs a “Hub” for people to work online from time to time. The meeting was a huge success and a large group representing over 135 people in Beara currently working from home.

Many speakers raised different issues associated with working from home. Some of the issues raised ranged from patchy broadband and phone service to isolation, childcare and housing.

It was suggested that a ”working hub” with good internet access with the possibility of meeting rooms, would enhance people’s ability to continue to work from home.

A bimonthly meet up was one of the suggestions to come out of the meeting.

It was agreed that each person would come back with ideas on how to promote Beara as an area to return to and work on line.

The meeting was also attended by local Councillors, Patrick Gerard Murphy, Danny Collins, Christopher Heinhold who gave their full backing to the hub.
